KOB-TV reports that the question to ban abortions after 20 weeks in Albuquerque will not be on the October ballot. The city clerk said by Monday night her office certified more than 9,000 of the 12,000 signatures needed to get the question on a ballot. Even though they have time to certify more, there won’t be time for city council to approve a resolution and get the question on the ballot. Deadlines are set by a state statute.
"We are confident it will pass on a special election ballot. However, in order to save the city money we will ask that the city councilors adopt the ordinance. The people have spoken - 27,000 in 20 days." - Tara Shaver.
